VEEDERSBURG -- Walter Hayes, 54, a resident most of his life of this community and recently of Lafayette and Logansport, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday a week after surgery at a Logansport hospital. A native of Wingate, he was a son of William and Margaret Gallaher Hayes and was born Dec. 31, 1911. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene here. Surviving with his mother are two brothers, John and Robert Hayes of Lafayette. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Sollars and Baker West Side Funeral Home at Lafayette, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate. --waw
